This three-story building with four wings of rooms around a very small interior courtyard was the residence of the lamas (bla brang) of the Keutsang (ke’u tshang) incarnation lineage, one of the most important incarnation lineages of the monastery. Because different Keutsang incarnations had been reborn in different parts of Tibet, the lineage (and therefore this residence) had ties to at least three Jé College (grwa tshang byes) regional houses: Hamdong (har gdong), Samlo (bsam lo), and Tsangpa (gtsang pa). The present Keutsang Rinpoché (ke’u tshang rin po che), Jampel Yeshé (’jam dpal ye shes, b. 1944), resides in India.
