This is one of two apartment houses that belong to the Bati Regional House (sba ti khang tshan). It is located just below the Jé College assembly hall (grwa tshang byes ’du khang) between two sets of stairs. Because of this, to conform to the change in elevation, the building is terraced. It is also unusual in that it is a perfectly freestanding building, with no enclosures, courtyards or perimeter wall.
