Description: This article presents the history of the Chhoetse Pönlop (chos rtse dpon slob), a title of the governor of eastern Bhutan whose seat is at Trongsa Dzong (drong gsar rdzong). The article traces the position from the first Chhoetse Pönlop Mingyur Tenpa (mi 'gyur brtan pa) through the time of Chhoetse Pönlop Ugyen Wangchuk, who became the King of Bhutan in 1907, and up to the present. Since the time of Ugyen Wangchuk, the Crown Prince of Bhutan has been installed as the Chhoetse Pönlop.
