Title: Dzogchen Monastery in Eastern Tibet

Description: A thorough profile of Dzokchen Monastery in eastern Tibet produced by a reincarnate lama from the monastery. The history of the institution (founded in 1685) is one of the best such accounts of any Tibetan monastery found on the web. Of particular note are the details of the flourescence of scholarly activity that occured at Dzokchen between the founding of the commentarial college (shedra, bshad grwa) in 1841 and the middle of the 20th century. The website also offers an optimistic outlook on the current situation at the monastery and the steady reconstruction efforts that have been in effect for some years now.
Compare this site with the homepage of the Dzokchen Monastery in India.
