Title: International Institute for Asian Studies

Description: The International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) is a postdoctoral research centre based in Leiden and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Its main objective is to encourage the study of Asia and to promote national and international cooperation in this field.
The geographical scope of the institute covers South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Central Asia. The institute focuses on the humanities and the social sciences and, where relevant, on their interaction with other sciences. English is the official language at the IIAS
The IIAS organizes seminars, workshops and conferences, publishes a newsletter (circulation approximately 20,000 copies) and has set up various academic publication series. It has established a database which contains information about researchers and academic institutes in the field of Asian Studies within Europe and world-wide.
