One Sentence Summary: The article explores the most appropriate means of conserving the 55-Window Palace in the Bhaktapur Durbar in the Kathmandu valley of Nepal.

Description: The article explores the most appropriate means of conserving the 55-Window Palace. Pachpanna Jhaley Durbar is Nepali term for the 55-window palace which is the principal monument in the Bhaktapur Durbar monument conservation zone, one of the five monument zones of a world heritage site in the Kathmandu valley. The palace suffered huge damage during the great earthquake of 1934 A.D., almost all of the second floor along with the 55-window assembly was turned into a heap of rubble. The earthquake in 1989 might have caused further deterioration in the stability and strength of the palace. The paper attempts to set the most appropriate means for any cultural heritage conservation with reference to the conservation method of the 55-window palace. The article includes a diagrammatic representation of the conservation scheme. (Rajeev Ranjan Singh 2006-10-25)
