The article discusses the Jesthavarna Mahavihara which is one of the oldest and principal bahas in Lalitpur. It is a prominent baha of the Newar Buddhists of Lalitpur which is commonly known as Tanga Baha or Caku Baha. The article describes the detailed structure of the temple and Baha complex. The Baha complex is surrounded by dwelling houses. The history and evolution of Tanga Baha is traced with the help of inscriptions. Also included is a list of important inscriptions which are in the baha complex. The article discusses the different tales in regard to the origin of the Baha. It includes details about daily rituals of the Baha with a list of the funds and other materials needed to perform annual rituals.
