The article deals with the social functions of religion, such as the contribution that it makes to the formation and maintenance of a social order and social cohesion. It is a research note on the religious beliefs and practices among the Chepang of Nepal. The article is based on the study of the Chepang living in the Mahabharat ranges of central Nepal, west of Kathmandu. This article shows that the entire circle of Chepang life is dominated by religious beliefs and practices. These beliefs and faith are related to supernatural power.
