Description:
A history and guide to Drepung monastery and its colleges. Volume one (deb dang po) contains chapters 1 and 2, which provide some general history of the monastery and its sangha. Volume two (deb gnyis pa) contains chapter 3, which provides information on Gomang monastic college (sgo mang grwa tshang, pp. 147-503). Volume three contains chapter 4, with information on Losel Ling monastic college (blo gsal gling grwa tshang). Volume four (deb bzhi pa) contanins chapter 5 and 6 and has information on Deyang monastic college (bde yangs grwa tshang, pp. 1-28) and the Ngakpa monastic college (sngags pa grwa tshang, pp. 29-80). Volume five contains chapter 7, which provides information on several of the reincarnate lama's residences within the monastery as well as the monastic printing house. Volume six is unavailable for description, but probably contains chapters on a few more reincarnate lama's residences and a chapter on the present state of the monastery. Volume seven contains various shorter documents. The publication is appears to have been set from type, printed, ammended, and then copied. The title pages are hand-lettered and some pages have handwritten annotations in an dbu med script. (Ben Deitle 2009-07-07)
