Description: Ian Stevenson is well known as one of a few professionals conducting research on reincarnation, near-death and out of body experiences. In this webcast, he shares some of his findings on children who claim to remember previous lives based his many years of investigation. He outlines the typical characteristics of these reports, the criteria used by him and his investigation team to determine their authenticity, how these reports compare across cultures, and how the reports might be interpreted. He also shares several specific examples from individuals in Lebanon, Burma, Turkey, Thailand, and India. Some of the characteristics of these reports are (1) a commonality in when the reincarnate individual makes references to the previous life (2-5 years of age), (2) a high frequency of reported violent death, and (3) a high frequency of indivduals remembering the mode of death in general. Ian Stevenson is a Professor of Research at the University of Virginia Medical School. He works in the Division of Personality Studies, a unit of the Department of Psychiatric Medicine.
