One Sentence Summary: As was the case with the Fodor's edition that was published a decade later than this one, this edition (1990) is quite outdated and quite general.

Description: As was the case with the Fodor's edition that was published a decade later than this one, this edition (1990) is quite outdated and quite general. All of the information regarding Tibet specifically, which is quite scant to begin with, lacks detail and is probably out-dated anyways. Regardless of this recurring problem, useful information can still be found. Some of the general medical, packing, or behavioral advice at the beginning may still be relevant. If nothing else, this is an interesting historical piece into the tourist policies of the late 1980's and early 1990's. Ultimately, though, there is very little information specific to Tibet, and that which is included, is largely outdated and inaccurate. (Bill McGrath 2008-02-20)
