This is a panorama of the main entrance to Sera. One initially sees the main gate (sgo) of the monastery to the right. Pan to the right. Behind the tree is the ticket booth (lag ’khyer nyos sa), where foreigners must buy tickets before entering Sera. Some monks are selling yoghurt and incense under the tree. Continuing right, one sees a woman about to cross the Sera main boulevard or “Sand Street” (bye gzhung). To her right and in the distance is the Sera infirmary and restaurant complex.
